Amy Morris, previous publisher of the Gladwin County Record and chief of staff for former state Rep. Jennifer Elkins, has joined the staff of Martin Waymire Advocacy Communications (MWAC).

Morris has worked in communications since 1993. Her experience in newspapers includes writing, editing, advertising sales and design. She moved through the ranks serving as reporter, then editor and later publisher of the newspaper. She also privately produces three publications for canine organizations.

While working in the Legislature, Morris ran a state office and managed the campaign for the targeted 97th seat in the Michigan House of Representatives.

Morris chaired the 2005-2006 United Way campaign for Gladwin County and is a member of the Gladwin County Leadership steering committee. She also served on the board of the Gladwin Community Arena in 2005-2006, and has chaired the Gladwin County Halloween Party for more than 500 area children for many years.

Morris graduated from Michigan State University with a bachelor's degree in journalism. She currently resides in Leslie.
